FESTIVAL   6-8 October 2017

The wonderful, diverse city of Brighton and Hove is to have a new male choir festival to help celebrate the 90th anniversary of Brighton Male Voice Choir, and it will be hosted by them in association with Rottingdean Arts.

Dr. Roy Wales, founder and director of Rottingdean Arts /Spring Music Festival, and Director of the Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival, is much appreciated for his valuable assistance with the initial organisation of this event, and he will be directing proceedings for the evening concert in Rottingdean, on Friday 6th October.

COMPETITION   Saturday 7 October - from 10.30a.m.

The choir competition will be held during the morning and afternoon of Saturday 7 October at St George's Church, in the Kemp Town area of Brighton.

  • 1st Prize   £500   plus festival trophy
  • 2nd Prize   £300
  • 3rd Prize   £150
  • 4th Prize   £ 50

The Festival Trophy has been very kindly donated by Rottingdean resident Violet Simpson.

GALA CONCERT   Saturday 7 October - from 7.00p.m.

The Gala Concert will also be held at St George's Church, commencing at 7.00pm Saturday evening.
The programme will include all of the choirs participating in the Festival Competition - singing their own choice of music for a 12 minute performance.


Light refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the day from the church cafe.
Wine and soft drinks will be available at the Church during the concert interval.
The area is also well served by a variety of local cafes and restaurants.

FRIDAY 6 October

A smaller concert will be held on the evening of Friday 6 October, commencing at 7.45pm., at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Rottingdean, featuring the visiting German-Canadian Male Chorus of Calgary; St Stythians Male Voice Choir from Cornwall, and Bournemouth Male Voice Choir.
